Unicorp’s I-Drive Plan Attracting Hotel Interest

OrlandoNightSkylineUnicorp National Developments Inc.’s master plan for International Drive and Universal Boulevard is already getting hotel interest, and it is only a week after being revealed.

During a November 20 I-Drive meeting, Unicorp’s President Chuck Whittall said he has received calls from two different companies that may want to build hotels on his I-Drive land. However, he didn’t disclose the companies’ names. Its property is running from Sand Lake Road to Via Mercado and currently houses parking or future demolished structures on the blocks.

Chuck Whittall revealed details on I-Drive master plan: Unicorp National Developments Inc. is planning to build a new hotel, retail and open-air destination along I-Drive that potentially will include 13 new hotels that will range in size and scope including how the hotels will be themed and used. Unicorp’s plan has been created with assistance of architectural team members of Wallack Holdings LLC, developer of the $460 million Skyplex project.

Chuck Whittall said a new hotel tower will be built in close proximity to the Orlando Eye. The Unicorp’s President also mentioned other plans that include building a new 1,000-room tower hotel at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive.

Unicorp National Developments Inc. is a company, which specializes in mixed-use and urban projects. Unicorp. is currently involved in a half-dozen developments, including a $100 million mixed-use development in southwest Orlando, the Baldwin Park Village Center, the Altamonte Springs Town Center and Premiere Trade Plaza, Orlando.

The International Drive area has become a booming area of proposed investment. The $200 million I-Drive 360 project is the first part of several new additions, including the $500 million Skyplex project and the new Mango’s Tropical Cafe Orlando.
