<\/a>Universal Orlando<\/a> opened a brand new resort on March 31. Cabana Bay Beach Resort will be the fourth on-site hotel at Universal Orlando Resort.\u00a0The hotel features a retro Googie style and its look evokes the beach resorts from the late 1950s and 60s.\u00a0The new pearl of Universal Orlando consists of five similar looking structures with their names inscribed on top of each. The complex is divided into three separate areas: North Courtyard, Front Desk and the South Courtyard. On the north side are Starlight, Thunderbird and Castway. Around the south courtyard are Americana and Continental. The buildings are named after iconic hotels of the past.<\/p>\nThe colorful retro-themed resort opens in two phases. The main public spaces and the North Courtyard guest buildings welcomed Cabana Bay\u2019s first guests on March 31 when 600 family suites were opened for public. However, the grand opening of the resort is scheduled for July 1, 2014 when the South Courtyard, the rest of the complex with standard rooms, will be available for use. When completed this summer, the resort will have a total of 1,800 units\u2013 900 moderately-priced family suites and 900 value-priced standard guest rooms.<\/p>\n
The guests of the resort can relax at 2 zero-entry pools, race down a dive tower waterslide and splash into the 10,000 square foot pool and surrounded by 17 rentable cabanas in the\u00a0Cabana Courtyard, or enjoy a retro-themed specialty cocktail from\u00a0the bar areas, called Swizzle Lounge\u00a0or\u00a0Atomic Tonic. Other notable amenities include a 10-lane bowling alley, the Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio, first of its kind, the Bayliner Diner food court. The South Courtyard will feature seven-story towers flowing like waves around a 6,000 square foot pool and a lazy river.<\/p>\n
