However, due to possible trouble with an oxygen sensor NASA and United Launch Alliance are prompted to delay the launch to no earlier than July 30, the space agency announced Tuesday. The agency&#8217;s $2.4 billion&nbsp;Perseverance Mars rover is scheduled to launch from pad 40 <a href=\"http:\/\/orlando.interplex.net\/\">at Cape Canaveral, Florida<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>A liquid oxygen sensor line\nproduced \u201coff-nominal data\u201d during a test, and the mission team will need extra\ntime to evaluate what happened.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If\nthe 30th doesn\u2019t work, the agency has more time to launch. NASA had originally chosen\nAugust 5th, but scientists have extended the window until August 15th and will later\ndetermine if another extension is possible. The rover is expected to land in\nMars\u2019 Jezero crater on February 18th, next year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This\nisn\u2019t the first delay. NASA had moved back the Mars 2020 liftoff from its\noriginal July 17th date to the 22nd after an issue with encapsulating the\nspacecraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perseverance\nMars rover and the Mars 2020 mission&nbsp;have been developed for years and\nthis is an important mission, as it could shed light on possible past life on\nMars, the planet\u2019s geological history and even returning samples to Earth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/spaceflightnow.com\/2020\/06\/30\/nasa-delays-mars-rover-launch-to-no-earlier-than-july-30\/\">Space Flight Now.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Launch of next Mars rover slips to July 30 as planetary launch window extended.
