During the test, the upper portion of the rocket blew apart and heavy plumes of smoke flowed from the vehicle, sending shrapnel flying into the air.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the test was to pressurize systems to the max, so the outcome had not been completely unexpected,&#8221; a <a href=\"http:\/\/orlando.interplex.net\/\">SpaceX<\/a> officer\u00a0told the media representatives,\u00a0adding that there had been no injuries, nor that was \u201ca serious setback.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The winged rocket stage remained\nupright following the explosion and it appeared that a lower bulkhead might\nhave failed as well. After&nbsp;the explosion, representatives of the private\nspace transportation company said that Space X decided &#8220;to not fly this\ntest article&#8221;&nbsp;prior to the setback which later was confirmed by a\ntweet sent by Musk when answering an enthusiast who asked whether SpaceX was\nplanning to move onto the Mark3, a new prototype designed for orbit.
