Dr. Beach Names Hawaii’s Hanauma Bay Best Beach in the USA

The best beach in America is Hawaii’s Hanauma Bay, according to Dr. Beach’s “Top 10 list of beaches for 2016.”

Stephen Leatherman is a Florida International University professor  known as Dr. Beach. Leatherman as a coastal scientist has been reviewing beaches around the country since 1991.

For the second year in a row a beach in Hawaii has been selected as the beach No.1 on the list of America’s top ten beaches. Dr. Beach uses about 50 criteria to assess and rank beaches including water and sand quality as well as other major factors like safety and management. The Walking Dead Attraction Coming to Universal Studios Hollywood

GroupofzombiesjoelfThe Walking Dead attraction is coming permenantly to Universal Studios Hollywood and maybe soon to Orlando.

Universal Studios Hollywood announced a brand new attraction: The Walking Dead. Following three years of seasonal Walking Dead mazes, that became widely popular as part of the park’s annual Halloween Horror Nights, the television series will come to life as a permanent, immersive walk- through attraction. The attraction is scheduled to open later this year. It is described as ‘a new year-round attraction’ that will put guests into the walker-filled world of ‘the walking dead’ in various scenarios of the TV show. Guests will walk through different settings from the series all while trying to elude the zombie-like walkers. The attraction will be using both live performers and animatronics, as well as some of the most iconic scenes and environments. Twelve months later, the future of the world’s tallest roller coaster is in doubt, thanks to opposition led by neighboring Universal Orlando, which says the proposed 570-foot Skyscraper, featuring a 450-foot drop, is not only too tall, but would adversely change the culture of the tourist corridor. Fast and Furious: Supercharged Coming to Universal Orlando in 2017

800px-Fast_and_Furious_6_Premier_7_(8749822359)An all-new ride, based on Universal Pictures’ huge Fast and the Furious franchise, will be coming to Universal Orlando Resort in 2017, Universal confirmed officially via its blog on Tuesday.

The ride is called Fast & Furious: Supercharged, and is similar to the attraction using the same name at Universal Studios Hollywood whichopened earlier this year. Fast & Furious: Supercharged opened as part of the iconic Tram Tour at Universal Studios Hollywood, California in June and at a grand-opening event, actress Michelle Rodriguez is rumored to mention a future ride in Orlando. Wet ‘n Wild Orlando to Close in 2016

Wet_n_Wild_Orlando_-_The_Storm_2Universal Orlando is closing Wet ‘n Wild for good on December 31, 2016, the theme park officials announced via its blog Wednesday.

The International Drive water park opened in 1977 and has been owned by Universal since 1998. The company was leasing the 52 acres land on the corner of I-Drive and Universal Boulevard until 2013 when it purchased it for $30 million. That included the water park, a parcel under its adjacent lagoon and the parking lot across Universal Boulevard.

Universal Orlando spokesman Tom Schroder wrote on Universal’s official blog that it was too soon to discuss what would happen next with the land. However, the land will reportedly be used for hotel development. Continue reading “Wet ‘n Wild Orlando to Close in 2016”

New Water Park Coming to Orlando

800px-Magic_mountain_water_park_monctonCompetition among Orlando’s water parks will get a little tougher. Universal Orlando Resort is planning a construction of a water park that will be named Volcano Bay.

On February 13, Universal filed plans with South Florida Water Management for a proposed water park to be built on vacant land east of Turkey Lake and south of Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. The parcel of land for the planned water park at Universal Orlando Resort is more than 50 acres. Previously, Universal has filed for trade marks for the names Volcano Bay and Wondersea Island, according to the details released on the theme park blogs. King Kong Returns to Universal Studios Orlando

King_Kong_1933_Italian_posterComcast Corp.’s executives have recently confirmed a King Kong attraction is set to land at Universal’s Island of Adventure.

 Universal is moving forward with their plans to construct a new King Kong ride, a new resort and a long-rumored water park at Orlando. The company is currently building the new 1,000-room Loews Sapphire Falls Resort, which is scheduled to open in 2016 and there are also permits filed for the water park.

 Rumors about a new King Kong ride in one of the parks had been spread by theme park fans for months until last year Universal Orlando filed a permit application with the city of Orlando for a demolition project and they started to clear the space. Harry Potter’s Diagon Alley and Hogwarts Express to open by mid-summer

A wildly ambitious project, unprecedentedly connecting two theme lands: the original Universal Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Islands of Adventure and the new London-themed area at Universal Studios Florida. The Hogwarts Express train ride is set to connect them, offering an exciting journey, authentic to the one in the movie; with characters and magical creatures from the book: the Weasley twins on their brooms, the Knight Bus in London traffic, Hagrid on his flying motorbike.
