High-Speed Train Connecting Orlando Theme Parks and Miami Cruise Port Set to Open in 2022

Construction works continue on Virgin Trains high-speed rail service across the state of Florida.

Formally known as Brightline, the train will connect Orlando to West Palm Beach, down to Miami, with speeds up to 125 mph.

Florida’s new high-speed rail system is part of a goal to get 3 million cars off the road. The rail is expected to cost $2.5 billion, including a $70 million maintenance facility south of the Orlando International Airport.

Disney Florida launches three-story high Skyliner gondolas

Disney World officially opened its Skyliner service to the public, giving Orlando guests high-flying transportation.

Disney World has introduced the Skyliner, an aerial cable car system with 300 colorful gondolas that whisk visitors from hotels to theme parks. Six miles of cable and five stations link Walt Disney World’s resorts with Hollywood Studios and the International Gateway at Epcot Center.

SpaceX Successfully Launches 18th Cargo Mission to International Space Station

SpaceX successfully launched its 18th cargo flight to the space station Thursday evening.

The Space-X Dragon Capsule lifted off at 6:01 p.m., from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

Thunderstorms moving across Florida delayed a launch attempt on Wednesday and the weather predictions indicated a low chance for launch Thursday as more stormy weather was expected. However, clouds thinned out and right on time the Falcon 9 roared to life and lifted off.

Officials Investigating Electrical Incident at Volcano Bay

Universal Orlando admitted workers and customers received electric shocks at Volcano Bay water theme park after employees had been hospitalized.

Universal Studios’ Orlando, Florida resort’s Volcano Bay water theme park closed early on Sunday after several customers and workers complained of electric shocks and the Orlando Fire Department transported four patients to area hospitals.

Florida Man Tries to Land Job at Disney by Putting up Billboard

A New York man rents a billboard to get a dream job at Walt Disney World.

How far would you go to land the job of your dreams? For one Central Florida man, the sky, or almost, was the limit.

In an attempt to get the attention of the company’s HR department, a man looking for a job in Walt Disney World rented a billboard near the park in Orlando, Florida.

The billboard along State Road 535 reads, “Dear Walt Disney World Executives and HR, experienced EA/PA Professional seeking a position as a WDW Assistant.” It provides his phone number and email address “futureWDWassistant@gmail.com.”

Hepatitis A Found in Food Service Worker at Walt Disney World Dinner Show

Case of hepatitis A has been confirmed in food service worker at Walt Disney World dinner show, health officials said.

A worker at the Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue at Fort Wilderness Campground contracted hepatitis A, according to officials with the Florida Department of Health.

The case was reported on January 24. The Health Department’s epidemiology staff in Orange County confirmed the case in the lab. The department has been working with Disney World to provide vaccines to staff members since last week. There is no information whether guests were affected.

Disney Buys Almost 1,000 Acres of Land Just South of Walt Disney World

New rumors arose: Disney is up to something. The Walt Disney Company purchased 965 acres of land southeast of Celebration, property records show. It is unclear what Disney plans to do with the newly purchased land.

According to recently filed documents, the company has purchased the site of the BK Ranch from Florida-based BFT Capital Corp. in Osceola County for $23 million. A deed shows the sale was finalized last Thursday. The land Disney purchased is located just southeast of Disney World, only 10 miles away, near Celebration, a master-planned community.

New Hotel Tower ‘The Cove’ is Headed to Disney World

It looks like the rumors have been confirmed. After months of speculation, Marriott confirmed that it was planning a third resort hotel at Walt Disney World next to its Swan and Dolphin hotels. 


It was only clear that the new project would focus on business travelers, with meeting spaces and business suites. Nearly half of the 343 rooms in the new hotel will be business suites. The hotel will provide more professional meeting space with built-in AV systems, large conference tables, and other meeting-focused amenities.
