Orlando Airport Aims to Become First to Fully Implement Biometric Entry and Exit Program

The Orlando International Airport is aiming to become the first in the country to fully implement the US Customs and Border Protection agency’s Biometric Entry and Exit Program and the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority Board voted to approve $4 million in funding for the effort.

The move will improve efficiency and traveler experience and reduce passenger processing to just 15 minutes per traveler. “With a faster and more secure clearance process, airlines, airports, and travelers will benefit from shorter processing times and standardized arrival procedures,” said Greater Orlando Aviation Authority CEO Phil Brown.

Universal Orlando Reveals Names of its 2 New Hotels

Universal Orlando Resort has announced names for the two budget-priced hotels it is building on the former site of Wet ’n Wild water park. Their names will be the Surfside Inn and Suites and the Dockside Inn and Suites.

Universal Orlando announced the construction of two hotels last November. They are part of a complex called Universal’s Endless Summer Resort. The properties will be managed by Loews Hotels & Resorts, which is involved with Universal’s other on-property hotels, including the 600-room Aventura Hotel scheduled to open this summer. First Glimpse of Upcoming Fast & Furious – Supercharged Attraction

Universal Orlando has released a few more details about its upcoming Fast and Furious attraction at Universal theme park. However, a specific opening date wasn’t announced. “The spring of 2018” said officials from the company.

Universal promises plenty of real-life automobiles involved in the Fast and Furious Supercharged attraction, which means guests will have unique high-speed action experience. A post on the official Universal blog shows that the space houses upgraded cars designed for racing: some of them we have seen in the film’s series and others are especially designed for the high-speed chase experience.

The new attraction will feature the iconic Dodge Charger owned by the character of Dom, played by Vin Diesel. Disney Reveals Details about Animal Kingdom’s 20th Anniversary

Disney’s Animal Kingdom will mark 20th anniversary with Party for the Planet.
Walt Disney World is planning special events and activities to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Animal Kingdom theme park, starting with two weeks of Party for the Planet festivities.

Guests will be able to attend conservation talks by animal-care experts and enjoy interactions with some animals of the park’s attractions.

The festive activities will start on April 22, which is Earth Day and the anniversary of Animal Kingdom’s official opening in 1998.

Disney Unveils More Details about ‘Star Wars’ Hotel

The “Star Wars”-themed hotel coming to Disney World will be seamlessly connected to the upcoming Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge land being built at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and opening in 2019. Opening date for the hotel has not been revealed though.

The hotel is designed to be a multiday adventure, with guests being active citizens of the galaxy. The Star Wars fans staying at the hotel will be immersed into movie’s theatrics as if traveling on a starship. The hotel will be filled with Star Wars characters and storylines in progress and every window of the resort will show images of space.

Disney Names the Hippo Born at Animal Kingdom

Park officials at Animal Kingdom in Orlando announced Wednesday their baby Nile hippopotamus is a male and his name is Augustus.

The calf was born on January, 13. This is the first hippo born at Animal Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista in more than 13 years, Disney officials say.

Disney didn’t know Augustus’ sex until this week. Usually, a newborn calf weighs between 50 and 110 pounds and a hippo’s sex isn’t known immediately after the birth.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Launch Set for Sunday Now Delayed

SpaceX postpones Falcon 9 launch to conduct nose cone checks.

SpaceX has delayed its weekend launch of the Spanish communications satellite Hispasat 30W-6 to allow time for extra tests on the Falcon 9 rocket.

The Falcon 9 was scheduled to launch the satellite Sunday (Feb. 25) at 12:35 a.m. EST (0535 GMT) from Space Launch Complex 40 at the Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. But on Saturday, SpaceX said it needed extra time to test the rocket’s payload fairing, the nose cone that protects satellites during flight. A new launch date has not been officially announced yet.

Disney World’s Long-Awaited Toy Story Land to Open June 30

Toy Story is coming to life at Walt Disney World this summer and it’s official!

Disney finally revealed opening date for the highly anticipated Toy Story Land. The new area created for Disney’s Hollywood Studios will officially open to guests on June 30. Some of the Disney Pixar trilogy’s beloved characters, Woody, Buzz, and Jessie, announced the news on Disney-owned ABC during its “Good Morning America” broadcast on Friday.

The latest addition to Disney’s Hollywood Studios will rest on 11 acres of land. Inspired by Pixar’s Toy Story films, the expansion will include family-friendly roller coaster Slinky Dog Dash, the twirly Alien Swirling Saucers ride and an expanded version of 3D-shooting ride Toy Story Mania with three tracks. SpaceX Falcon Heavy Launch Successful. Boosters Land

SpaceX finally blasted off the Falcon Heavy from Florida’s Space Coast in a historic launch.

The Falcon Heavy sent a next-generation, heavy-lift rocket toward space from Cape Canaveral Tuesday afternoon.

The three rocket boosters fired up and sent the craft into the sky at 3:45 p.m., about 2 hours and 15 minutes after the company had originally planned.
