NASA Delays Launch of its Next Mars Rover

Launch of next Mars rover slips to July 30 as planetary launch window extended.

NASA is pushing back the launch of its next Mars rover, called Perseverance, by a week, due to a problem with the rocket.  An Atlas 5 rocket is going to send the spacecraft to the Red Planet. However, due to possible trouble with an oxygen sensor NASA and United Launch Alliance are prompted to delay the launch to no earlier than July 30, the space agency announced Tuesday. The agency’s $2.4 billion Perseverance Mars rover is scheduled to launch from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral, Florida.

SpaceX Launches Falcon 9 on its First Mission for Space Force

A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket has just launched a U.S. Space Force GPS 3 satellite. The rocket lifted off at 4:10 p.m., from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.

The third GPS 3-series satellite designated GPS 3 SV03 is riding a 229-foot-tall Falcon 9 rocket. The 9,505-pound spacecraft launched on a trajectory toward the northeast from Cape Canaveral, flying almost parallel to the U.S. East Coast.

Major League Soccer Coming to Disney World

MLS is back. City of Orlando, Walt Disney World Resort to host all 26 teams at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex beginning July 8.

Major League Soccer announced a few days ago the league’s plan to restart the 2020 season with all 26 Major League Soccer clubs competing in the MLS is Back Tournament. The tournament will take place at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex at Walt Disney World Resort in neighboring Lake Buena Vista starting July 8. The tournament will be played without fans in attendance and provide a compelling way for MLS to resume its 25th season. The event will be staged with an emphasis on the health and safety of players, coaches, staff, and cast members. All of them will follow specific medical protocols, including regular testing for MLS players and staff, throughout the tournament.
