A father was accused of drunken tirade and child neglect at Disney resort.
A man, visiting Walt Disney World with his family, was arrested at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and faces multiple charges after he went on a “drunk tirade” through one of the resorts and let his child get sunburned on Sunday, according to authorities.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Brian Olmstead of Brunswick, Ohio on Sunday after at least 11 complaints were filed Olmstead over the course of four hours at the Disney resort.
According to the sheriff’s office arrest affadavit, man’s drunken tirade began at about 4 p.m. Sunday, when the first complaint was called in to the resort concierge.
Olmstead’s wife told Orange County sheriff’s investigators she was attending a cheerleading competition at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports throughout the day. Her husband left with their young son at around 3:30 p.m., and returned to the resort. The woman says at 8 p.m. she got a call from someone at the resort saying Olmstead was “severely intoxicated.”
According to authorities, guests reported Olmstead using racial slurs while aggressively pushing his child’s stroller to plow through crowds. Witnesses told investigators that the man drank himself to intoxication at the resort’s poolside bar and the toddler was with him. The child was badly sunburned and stayed with a soiled diaper for hours. Paramedics said later that Olmstead’s son suffered first-degree burns.
After those 11 complaints were filed, the manager escorted back Olmstead to his room.
However, the man was persistent, returned to the bar. He began threatening hotel guests and refused to go back to his room.
The police came just at 9 p.m. on Sunday and Olmstead was removed from the resort. Brian Olmstead was charged with child neglect and posted bond Monday.
